Pick and pack is a term used in warehouse management and e-commerce order fulfillment. It refers to the process of selecting and collecting products (picking) from a warehouse inventory and packing them (packing) for shipment to customers.
The pick and pack process usually involves several steps. First, items are received, stored and organized in a warehouse or storage area. Then, when an order is received, workers use pick lists or digital order management systems to locate and retrieve items from shelves or storage areas. The items are then checked for accuracy and packed into boxes or other shipping containers. The goal of pick and pack is to efficiently fulfill customer orders with high accuracy and minimal errors.
We use our in-house developed order management system. Orders are bundled into one large pick list to achieve an efficient pick sequence and reduce overall walking distances. Each item is scanned for verification using barcode scanners.
During packing, the smallest possible package is selected and a second check scan takes place before the item disappears into the shipping package.
